DJI Launches Zenmuse S1 & V1

DJI, the global leader in civilian drones and aerial imaging technology, has unveiled two new advanced payloads for its multi-payload enterprise drone platforms: the Zenmuse S1 spotlight and the Zenmuse V1 speaker. Designed for critical missions and high-risk environments, the new systems are expected to significantly enhance nighttime visibility, infrastructure inspections, and emergency communications across West Africa.

The launch comes as countries including Nigeria and Ghana accelerate the adoption of enterprise drone technology for security, infrastructure monitoring, energy maintenance, and disaster response. The Zenmuse S1 is an advanced high-intensity spotlight engineered to improve aerial visibility during nighttime and low-light operations. At its core is Laser Excited Phosphor (LEP) technology, known for its superior beam concentration and long-distance penetration. Unlike conventional lighting systems, LEP enables clearer illumination through haze, dust, and mist — conditions common during harmattan seasons and in remote field environments.

The spotlight features three operational modes: Low Beam for wide-area short-range searches, High Beam for focused long-distance illumination, and a combined mode that delivers both depth and coverage. These capabilities are particularly suited for search and rescue missions, night-time utility maintenance, perimeter security, and disaster assessment.

Complementing the S1 is the Zenmuse V1, a high-powered aerial speaker designed to deliver clear voice communication from the sky. The V1 supports text-to-speech functionality with adjustable tone and speed, allowing operators to broadcast tailored safety instructions in real time. It also enables the upload of pre-recorded local language messages — a critical feature for multilingual communities across West Africa.

When paired with DJI’s enterprise remote controller, the system supports directional recording and environmental noise cancellation, ensuring live announcements remain intelligible even in crowded urban areas, disaster zones, or windy open terrain.

Strengthening Infrastructure and Public Safety Across West Africa

For infrastructure operators and development agencies, the introduction of these payloads addresses operational gaps that often arise in challenging terrain and limited-light conditions.

Energy companies conducting nighttime inspections on transmission lines, substations, or oil and gas facilities can deploy the Zenmuse S1 to provide high-precision illumination without exposing personnel to additional risk. Conducting maintenance after sunset (when temperatures are lower and grid demand patterns may be more manageable) becomes significantly safer with enhanced aerial lighting.

In disaster response scenarios, the Zenmuse V1 offers practical life-saving advantages. During floods, fires, or evacuation efforts, emergency teams can broadcast clear instructions such as evacuation routes or safety warnings from a safe aerial distance. This reduces the need for personnel to enter unstable or hazardous areas while maintaining effective crowd communication.

The payloads also present strong applications for wildlife conservation and research institutions. Anti-poaching patrols operating in protected reserves can leverage the long-range spotlight to monitor vast landscapes at night while maintaining strategic distance. Similarly, conservation teams can use aerial audio broadcasting to deter intruders or coordinate ranger movements discreetly.
