DJI Agriculture Launches Agras T100 for Large-Scale Farmers in West Africa

DJI’s agricultural technology division, DJI Agriculture, has officially unveiled its new flagship drone, the Agras T100, positioning it as a high-capacity solution for commercial farming and remote logistics across West Africa.

The Agras T100 introduces what the company describes as a significant leap in aerial efficiency, combining a 100-kilogram payload capacity with a coaxial dual-rotor design built for stability under demanding field conditions. Engineered for large plantations and research institutions, the drone is tailored to meet the operational scale increasingly required in countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, and Côte d'Ivoire.

Responding to Modern Agricultural Pressures

The launch comes at a time when agricultural stakeholders across the region are seeking to modernize production systems, improve efficiency, and address persistent labour shortages. Mechanization remains uneven across West Africa, particularly in tree crops and large commercial estates. As plantations expand and climate variability increases operational pressures, scalable aerial technologies are gaining traction.

The Agras T100’s dual-use functionality — capable of operating both as a precision spraying platform and a heavy-lift cargo drone — sets it apart from previous-generation agricultural UAVs. By transitioning between crop treatment and transport roles, the platform extends its value beyond farming into rural logistics and development support.

Built for High-Intensity Operations

At the core of the Agras T100 is a 100kg payload capacity supported by a single-axis thrust of 82kg and powered by 62-inch carbon fibre propellers designed for stability in harsh or windy conditions.

For spraying operations, the drone delivers a flow rate of 30 litres per minute, upgradeable to 40 litres per minute for orchard environments. Dual atomizing sprinklers produce droplets as fine as 50 microns, enabling deeper canopy penetration — a critical feature for dense crops where manual spraying often fails to reach internal foliage.

Its spreading system is engineered for scale, handling up to 400 kilograms per minute at speeds of 20 metres per second. According to DJI Agriculture, this represents a 66 percent increase in operational efficiency compared to earlier models in its category.

In transport mode, the T100 can lift up to 100 kilograms of cargo and features anti-swing stabilization technology, enhancing flight safety when carrying equipment or supplies over uneven terrain.

The drone is also equipped with Safety System 3.0, integrating advanced LiDAR and millimetre-wave radar for three-dimensional obstacle mapping. This enables smoother automatic flight operations, even in complex terrain or low-visibility conditions, including night deployments.

During the unveiling, a DJI Agriculture spokesperson emphasized the platform’s safety-driven design philosophy.

“Safety is non-negotiable. The T100 features a next-level safety system with comprehensive upgrades, delivering safer, smoother, fully automatic operation. This is the all-new DJI Agras T100. Big drone, big jobs.”

Strategic Implications for West Africa

For West Africa’s agricultural and development sectors, the implications extend beyond performance specifications.

In orchard management, particularly for cocoa and cashew farms, the T100’s mist spraying capability addresses one of the region’s persistent challenges: penetrating thick crop canopies efficiently. Uniform chemical distribution in dense tree crops has historically required intensive manual labour. High-volume aerial spraying may significantly reduce time, cost, and exposure risks.

Beyond agriculture, the drone’s cargo capability introduces a potential solution for last-mile logistics challenges. In areas where poor road infrastructure, seasonal flooding, or washed-out routes disrupt supply chains, the T100 can function as an aerial transport platform. Research institutions, commercial estates, and development organisations could deploy the drone to airlift up to 100 kilograms of equipment, seeds, tools, or emergency supplies to remote sites.

As drone regulation frameworks mature across West Africa, the expansion of heavy-lift UAV platforms like the Agras T100 signals a broader shift toward integrated aerial operations in agriculture and rural development.

With its combination of payload strength, automated safety systems, and operational flexibility, the Agras T100 positions itself not merely as an agricultural drone, but as a scalable infrastructure tool for the region’s next phase of modernization.
